FLINOLA Fox Leadership in New Orleans, Louisiana
The Fox Leadership Program’s commitment to New Orleans began in September 2005, just two weeks after Hurricane Katrina struck. At that time, former New Orleans Mayor, Marc Morial (C ’80), delivered a talk at Penn, challenging the Penn community not to forget the Big Easy during its long road to recovery. The Fox Program took Mr. Morial’s message to heart. Since 2005, Fox has supported over 250 student volunteers in the Gulf Coast area.
FLINOLA, Fox Leadership in New Orleans, LA, is the Fox Program’s most ambitious effort in the Gulf Coast to date. Each year, for the next five years, Fox will send 100 students to New Orleans during spring break for week-long service projects with Habitat for Humanity and other rebuilding organizations. Additionally, Fox will support 20 ten-week paid summer internships in leading New Orleans non-profits and government agencies.
