Developing Communication Skills

To help students develop communication skills, Fox offers PowerSpeak Workshops.

Powerspeak workshops are facilitated by a corporate consulting firm, The Nyman Group and include hands on, practical workshops such as PowerSpeak Presentations, Reading People, Team Building, Netgotiations/Conflict Management and Social Etiquette.

PowerSpeak Presentations offer professional instruction and experience on how to best express ideas in front of a group, demonstrate credibility and respond effectively to questions. Students are taught the importance of visual, vocal and verbal messages, how to manage nervous energy and techniques for analyzing and presenting to various audiences. Topics also include organizing a presentation, creating tactical messages, strategies for successful "on the spot" impromptu speaking and techniques for handling difficult questions as well as distractions during speeches.

Reading People provides the opportunity for students to discover their own personal communication style while learning how to "read" the style of others. Students learn techniques to communicate persuasively with a range of personalities and cultures while sharpening their listening skills.
